A few weeks ago, when outside was still snowing, we went to Linea. I was there before, last summer, up on the terrace, but I didn’t eat anything. I heard that during the winter, the terrace fills with igloos. So I went with Dana, Gabi, Luana and Bogdan.
I have to introduce them to you in a couple of words. Luana is my high school desk mate and my bff. She and Bogdan live in Brussels and we see each other about 2-3 times a year. Depends on how often someone gets married or when there’s a The National concert in Brussels. I share lots of culinary pleasures with Luana.
"Luana even told me she wanted to appear on the blog and that we should go out and eat somewhere. Like unimpressedcelia is some famous blog."
Dana and Gabi are ex high school classmates of mine as well. They were seated right in front of me and Luana. Gabi works at Diana Ionescu Make-up Studio (fun fact: same high school, different years) and Dana is an interior designer. For those of you who want to renovate/decorate your apartment, home or office, you can find her here: http://postcardprojects.ro/
I guess you figured by now that this time we met because Luana and Bogdan were in Bucharest for a few days. Luana even told me she wanted to appear on the blog and that we should go out and eat somewhere. Like unimpressedcelia is some famous blog. But anyway…
I arrived later from the office and found everybody there, nested in an igloo. It was really cold two weeks ago, I know you all forgot. The igloos accommodate around 3 tables and they have a closing system with a zipper and some small windows included.
"The waiters don’t come as they like, they don’t stick their noses inside and ask you if you want something. That would be funny but they have a more practical system: every igloo comes with a phone number and a name."
The waiters don’t come as they like, they don’t stick their noses inside and ask you if you want something. That would be funny but they have a more practical system: every igloo comes with a phone number and a name. So you text the order to an assigned number, together with the name of the igloo. We got along wonderfully with the waiter through SMS. He had funny answers and comments.
I forgot to take a photo with the menu so I can’t remember the exact prices, but it didn’t seem to be an inexpensive place. Oh, and about the photos, I’m sorry for their quality. When there’s no good light they are not that good. We ordered as follows: naan bread with hummus and eggplant, burger and fries, rice balls, an avocado salad with roasted peppers.
"While we were devouring this and that, we spoke pretty much about Trump, Firea and the European Commission. That didn’t help for a better digestion hahaha."
I will take them one by one. The best stuff was the naan bread with hummus and eggplant. Good price-quality ratio. The burger was ok-ish, but the fries you could only eat with your hands, because they were sliced really thin and were very crunchy. I understand what they were reaching for, but I believe it’s a fail not to have the option of using cutlery. The rice balls were ok-ish, but way to expensive and the avocado salad with roasted peppers was a big disappointment. Not because it wasn’t tasty, but because I received half an avocado with a little piece of pepper. Plus, what was on the plate did not really look like a salad. I was expecting some more herbs. The taste was spot on, but the price...

So I went home unimpressed. The place however stays on my getting out list. I just think I’m gonna keep it for drinking mostly. And if I get hungry, I’m gonna get myself again some naan bread with hummus. I recommend you do the same.
Look, Luana, you made it! :)
P.S. On Mondays they don’t serve food.
